Baylan and Alex arrived in Ares’ office where he and Zeus were sitting, chatting and eating yummy goodies.

“Morning,” Baylan said, walking to one of the chairs in front of Ares’ desk.

“Hi,” Alex said, sitting on the chair next to his brother, and leaning forward to snag some yummy goodies.

“Have you not just had breakfast?” Zeus asked, frowning at him.

“Yep, but this is breakfast dessert,” Alex said, taking a bite.

Baylan snagged one as well. “Breakfast dessert? I like that.”

“I don’t, stop stealing my cakes,” Zeus said,

“Make us,” Alex said, leaning in to get another one, just as Ares waved his hand, and the tempting plate of yummy goodies vanished.

“Sooo mean,” Baylan said, shaking his head.

“I thought families were supposed to be nice,” Alex said, pouting.

“I postponed this meeting, so you could have breakfast with your mate. That was nice of me,” Ares pointed out.

“Pah,” Alex said.

“How was your mating?” Zeus asked him.

“There is no way I am telling you about my mating, but I will say that damn gargoyles have some amazing dust.”

Zeus got a dreamy look on his face. “Ah yes, I remember.”

“Ew, Dad,” Baylan said.

Ares just rolled his eyes.

Zeus laughed.

“So,” Ares said, trying to bring the meeting around to where it needed to be. “Alex what happened yesterday?”

Alex sighed. “I was a dumdum. I had just met Tudor and decided I needed a walk to think about things. Tudor isn’t used to anyone being nice to him. I needed to think about how I could woo him.

“I didn’t really think about where I was going, but I got to the edge of the pack wards and felt someone trying to break through them. I went to investigate, and saw some wolves and a human trying to get through. The human was Maggon McDuncan, and the wolves belong to the Hayes pack. McDuncan threw some kind of potion at me which knocked my unicorn out first, and then me. When I came around, I was chained to a wall in a shack.

“Tom Hayes told me he was going to give me to a demon to try and keep his soul. Thankfully, Bay, Tudor and Frederick found me, and Tudor managed to release me, after twin wonder there, and Frederick couldn’t do it. There was a bit of a battle, that Bay can tell you more about, then my mate turned Tom Hayes to stone for a few hours, and we left.”

Zeus turned to Baylan. “Where are Tom Hayes and Maggon McDuncan now?”

“Tom Hayes should still be at his pack house. Tudor only turned him to stone for a few hours, and Maggon was tied up and being beaten up by some of Hayes’ wolves. There were three extra dragons with us, who had come to pledge to Puff. One of them has sent Maggon to this estate, never to leave again.”

“At least Maggon McDuncan is now out of the picture,” Ares said, secretly thankful that it meant his mate was safe from the angry ex-dragon.

“You both need to stay alert at all times.
